Nursing while babywearing is a beautiful way to bond with your baby while keeping your hands free. Whether you are out in the park, running errands in the city, or just winding down at home, this method allows you to meet your little one's feeding needs while also keeping them close. It may not be easy at first, but it is doable with a little patience and practice! In this post, we'll share some useful tips and tricks to help you master the art of breastfeeding in a baby carrier, making it an ideal part of your everyday.
1. Choose the right baby carrier
Opt for a baby carrier that gives you access to your breast easily. Soft structured carriers and wraps usually make a great choice. Also, ensure the carrier you choose supports your baby well.

2. Practice positioning
Before nursing, make sure your baby is in a good, comfortable position in the baby carrier. They should be high enough to easily reach your breast without struggling. Consider practice at home when your little one is not hungry so you don't feel stressed or rushed.
3. Wear a comfortable top
Wearing a low cut, stretchy neckline, a nursing top or bra, or anything that can be easily pulled down (or up) will work best. When practising at home, you may want to go topless, just while you get the hang of things (skin-to-skin contact is great for your milk supply too!).
4. Find your rhythm
It may take a few tries to get comfortable nursing while wearing your baby. Experiment with different positions until you find one that is best for the both of you. If your baby has trouble latching, leaning forward may help give a little more space or placing a small nursing pillow can provide extra support too. The more you practice, the easier it will become.
5. Stay calm and relaxed
Not only your baby must be comfortable, but you too have to make sure that you are in a comfortable position. If you feel tense, it can be difficult for your baby to latch. Be sure to take your time, take a deep breath, and relax into the process.
6. Practice discreet nursing
If you are concerned about modesty, practice nursing in front of a mirror at home to find a suitable and comfortable way to position yourself and your little one. Dressing in layers and having a nursing cover can also make it easier to nurse privately.
7. Hydrate and snack
Keep a water bottle and some yummy treats and snacks nearby. Nursing can be a thirsty and hungry work, especially if you are on the move!
Nursing while babywearing is not only convenient but also promotes a deeper connection with your baby. With a bit of practice and the right techniques, you can enjoy the freedom of being active while meeting your baby's needs. Remember to be patient with yourself as you find your rhythm and embrace the journey!
